Well, I got my chance to get to the lake Friday night. Had everything taken care of during the day. Left around 11. Drove two hours into what I would call a very aggravating thunderstorm. The cold front they been predicting hit about 24 hrs early. What a bummer. Caught one fish on the loading ramp while waiting to see what the lightning was going to do. And that was that. Waited til 4 o'clock the next morning, (took a little power nap), to see if it would move out any time soon. To no avail, it was still storming the whole way home. Wasted trip. Oh well, I'll try again.

Better than a day of work.

Like Rem said, the worst day fishing is better than the "best" day at work!!

That sucks man. I feel your pain. That happened to me several years ago.
I drove 2 1/2 hours to Logan Martin by myself. Put my boat in, headed out onto the lake & the bottom fell out. Lightining heavily. Headed back to the ramp to wait out the storm. An hour later it lifted. Went back out on the lake, lightining & rain again. I had checked the weather before I left & of course it was 24hrs early. Didin't even get my lure in the lake. Packed it up for the drive home in the rain.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!? what kinda dedicated fisherman are you?
Not to spread bad advice but I was fishing last weekend and the fish were coming in the boat left and right....in a lightning storm....one bolt struck a tree right next to us on an island, I felt the heat of that baby.....hahahahaha I figured if I died least it was doing something I loved....

accuweather . com . You can pick the day , and it has an hourly forcast also with estimated wind stats .
And they also have a playing radar view where you can zoom in on your part of the state . ;)

Yeah whats da problem with a little lighting or having a bolt hit near by. Its quite invigorating when it hits close by. Very refreshing.....just cant get rid of the burnt hair smell for awhile......LOL Seriously though...
That is a bummer to travel the extra distance and have something that keeps you form fishing.

The rain didn't phase me. I had my rainsuit on the whole time. But when it's popping lightning right above me, I don't try it. Don't really like the smell of burning hair. Especially mine. hahahha
