Anybody else here fish this area of MN? I've been doing pretty good (bass only) on the lakes in this area all summer. As with everywhere else now, there are piles of young of the year perch just about everywhere now in huge schools, making for a tough(er) bite. The fish are robust, healthy, and well fed for sure.

Yup...I fish these lakes and the Brainerd and Motley area. Seems like every lake is different with the high water this year...you just don't know if you will get a shallow or deep water bite...or something in between. was on a lake last week where the bass were off the weeds in 20 ft....its been a little weird :hook

Unfortunately, I've only been up there once this year and it was the week all that rain came pouring down (week of June 18th) and put all the docks under water. Fished Big Pine and Farm Island when the weather allowed us to get out. Was a crappy week. Caught fish but nothing big.

The lakes I like to fish in that area are Borden, Clearwater, Big Pine, Farm Island and Cedar. I'd like to get on Serpent sometime and check it out too. Alexander is another hopeful.

I've been stuck fishing the Metro lakes this summer and the traffic has been absolutely NUTS. Now that the water is cooling down I'm sure some of the pleasure boaters will stay home.
