1988 stratos 201 pro

im looking at a 88 stratos 201 pro, wondering what to look for on boat, any known bad spot areas, for that year, does it have any wood on the hull or is it all fiberglass?

Also any advice on a 150 johnson vro motor would be great.

It has some wood on it, check around/under the battery boxes, along the edges in front of the captain & passenger seats, floor drains & if the owner will let you unscrew one of the transducer screws on the outside rear of the transom you might see quite a lot of water drain from it, if so, pass & keep looking.

The motor is dependable & thirsty by nature (as were all big motors of that era) just make sure the fuel & oil hoses are in good shape. Evinrude/Johnson updated the problem VRO units in 1987 & are the VRO II series ... very dependable !
