I hoping that some of you can shine the light on way some of us fish tournaments and some of dont..............

Why would you spend so much money (boat and tackle) and yet not take any opportunities of winning some of that money back?

Is it just a relaxing thing and you dont want to hassle with the pressures of a tournament?

Just looking for individual perspectives on this concept.

It's just a relaxing thing/hobby for me at this time in my life. My job doesn't allow me time to fish Tourney's. The hassle's with T's is a factor for some as is the pressures of a tournament and showing up empty at the scales.

I fish with my Grandson and son and a few buddies. When fishing with my buddies we have money T's. Everybody put's up $50 a man, big fish takes the pot, simple and clear. During our little money "T's", nobody is disqualified from fishing with us for showing up at the ramp with a Coleman Canoe powered by a Merc 300 mounted on the back, ya run what ya brung, it's all about the fun, and not trying to make a living out of it.

We're love'n every minute of it in it's simplest form...................:D:D

But I'll agree, if your in it for a career different rules apply to keep it even and honest. And as a side note; ya gotta have the money in order to make the money!

I just like the competion concept. The money is a nice side effect of the whole experience. I do about 20 a year from local club to opens to national regional trails.

I love fishing tournaments, I fish Fishers of Men national tournament, the BFL, and this year the B.A.I.T National tournament trail, the smell of gas and oil from a two stroke and the speed of my 20XD Bullet. Thanks Jeff

I just got my boat this last May and usually fish for fun with family and friends. I did do one tournament with a local radio station and had fun. Maybe I'll try another but I really don't have the time.

I fish for fun and fish aba T nearby,on Ky lake
The added money t are enjoyed as well as the fun as adds competition.
But no long haul stuff wouldnt be fun then.
22 ft Jaguar boat and 200 Evinrude, not exactly a speed demon yet faster than I can drive it at times,as lake gets a bit nasty in the wind.
Live but 6 min from the ramp at Paris Landing.

I have fished a few through the years, won some lost a few, the best thing i enjoyed was watching the guy's face in the boat ahead of me as i passed him with my yamaha sleeper motor.
I like going when i want to go and going home when i'm ready:p:):)..

Been there done that, enjoyed it, but the younger generation is moving in and I for one do not want to compete with these guys, there are damn good!!!

Bassmasters 1997 to 2003
REDMAN (now BFL) 1997 to 2000
Foxwoods Tournament Trail
ABC Tournament Trail and of course my club tournaments. (see below, 1st Place Lake Ontario 2006)

I do the Fishers of Men Kentucky West Division. I used to fish bigger stuff but I am in it for the fun and good-hearted competition.

I fish any tournament I can! I love the competition! I probably make enough at my local fruit jar tournaments to pay for a few of my real ones! These local tourneys taught me so much! fishing against the local ole' timers can teach you tons! If I didn't fish against them I would not have met them and been fortunate enough to pick their brain once in a while!

I fish a local club 12 tournys a year there. Then when spring gets here I fish Tuesday night pot tourny's every week and we also have a winter trail that I fish. So I fish at least two sometimes three tourny's a week. i love the challenge;)

I mostly use fishing as a way to recharge and get away from the world for awhile. I consider the money I spend on the boat and tackle etc an investment in my sanity.
At least here in CA most tournament guys seem to take it a little to seriously for me.

I have been fishing tournaments off and on since 1982 at every level.
Took about a 10 year break due to kids college and just got back into tournament fishing 2 years ago. This year I will be fishing the BFL Northeast and Empire Divisions and the first two northeast Stren Ts on the Potomac and 1000 Islands. At my age I am not trying to make a living doing it .I enjoy the competition and meeting new people.I still love the excitement of waiting at take off and for your number to be called!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fish a local club trail and a team trail. I'll fish between 18-25 tourneys this year. I love the competition and comradery amongst the members. This is also my stress relief.

For me, Its the one thing I can go do where I can get away from everything. My partner and I usually do ok in tournaments to break even for the year. But then you have the exspense of the boat ( never cheap ) and everything in it or strapped to it. I have been fishing since I could hold a pole. If there is anything in my life that helps me relax, its climbing in my Fisher and spending a day on a lake with no worries. Thats what life is all about.. relaxing and having no worries!!

i only do 65 or so a year. 50 week night wildcats and 16 club tourny's.. around here they hold 150 tourny's a year on highrock lake... to face some of the best crankers in the world and take there money is a ego boost..for me it is never about the money..

remember fritts is just most well known. there is much much better crankbait chunkers around here..
