Greg Hackney to moves to Phoenix Boats

Phoenix Boats President Gary Clouse announced today that Elite Series Pro Greg Hackney has made the move to Phoenix Boats. “Greg is obviously one of the biggest names in the industry and will be a great asset in our marketing efforts”, states Clouse. Greg will be fishing in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic in Birmingham in a Phoenix 721 Pro XP as well as the 2010 Bassmaster Elite Series.

“ After a visit to the Phoenix factory and seeing how these boats are built and meeting the management team, I knew this was the place for me to be,” stated Hackney. “ It is well known that the Bassmaster Elite Series puts a boat to the ultimate test, and with the materials and workmanship that goes into a Phoenix and hearing about the companies plans for the future, the decision was easy, “ he adds.

“ Greg is the type person that we are very comfortable partnering with,” says Clouse. “ First of all, he is a threat to win anywhere he goes. Equally important is the type person he is. We are very focused on working with anglers with high standards on and off the water. We are very excited about this and look forward to a long-term relationship.

Hackney has qualified for 9 Bassmaster Classics, has 2 Elite Series wins and 34 top 10’s. He is one of only 2 anglers to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic and the FLW Cup in 2008 as well as FLW Angler of the Year in 2005. His most recent win was the FLW Championship in Pittsburgh, collecting 500,000 dollars for his efforts. His Bass Fan world ranking is currently 19th.

A "public newsletter"? If you mean a press release or a press room link they sure do.

A while back I asked why we didn't see other boat brands in the elite series, and the answer was money, well maybe not so, it seems like phoenix boats as proven by this move that there's a commitement to the bass fisherman. While other's are about building a custom bass boat and than say good bye till you decide to buy another one, this guys want to go all the way with you. thumbs up to them and good luck, hope other's will follow.

I've also seen Phoenix sponsoring a show on one of the sports networks, don't remember which though. They are definatley getting noticed more, and that's good, as they're a great product. I was impressed w/ my short time on board one.

Hackney is a top notch, honest, sincere and "professional" guy. Phoenix is being very selective with who is signed up to represent the product line. Hack is first class just like the Phoenix Bass Boat and all the guys and gals at the factory!
