left the boat ramp about 9:30. air temp was mid 40's, water high 50's. started slow rolling a spinnerbait near a spring in the river channel stumps for about 20 min with no bites. then i headed to oringe springs flats to do what i really wanted to . flip mats! the cold front that came through the other day had them hiding under the mats. was flipping a sweet beaver with a 1 1/20z weight. had to bounce it a few times before they would take it. caught two pretty quickly that were about 2- 2 1/2 lbs.then i lost two when they came out of the mats. one had to be close to 5 lbs! then around 1 i stuck one that went 3.70 on my scale. she was starting to get a nice belly. then one more barely a pound. i left the water about 3pm.
it was so beautiful out there. barely any wind, bright sun, and the temp got around low 60's and the water got up to 61.perfect day!

Nice to get out, plus catch fish, but it pays to carry a digital camera.
It will be the third week of march before we hit 61,and then no grass mats available just be starting up.

it's funny, cuz whenever i do bring the camera, either i don't get bit or there's nothing worthy of a pic. hoping to get out there monday. maybe i'll leave the camera in the truck:D
