Gathered my trusty steed underneath me and shot on plane ,ventured across the lake .Fished the bridge pilings to no avail, tested the boat and got her up to 63.2 ran outa driver to much torque still.
Tossed up on a road bed in 2 ft of water and got nailed(felt good anyway)
up came the behemoth and lo and behold was a dadburn 10lb drum.
So todays pattern is a 3/8 white curly tail jig ,thrown on submerged roadbeds, tune in tomorrow for more lilmule adventures.

Might add ,yesterday wind had layed nice, and they were pulling water at the dam generating current, meaning the ledge bite is viable.
Backwaters for same reason pulling, were a bit more off color.
Water temp keeps see sawing back and forth between 50 and 53,due to cold fronts but give us a week at 75 plus and be at spawning temp real quick.

Day 2,windier,still pulling main lake ledge bite on jigs.inside coves in the creek channels themselves a dt 6 will work, secondary points in coves use a jerkbait same as main lake points.Pea gravel banks being of importance (lot of those near moors) and a brownish jig, green pumkin paca craw trailer.
Noone is getting many smallies, they normally appear in prespawn schools but so far no one has reported any, other than individual catches, and like last year may be few and farther apart.
Spotted bass are beginning to move towards a prespawn pattern,I caught several short ones today off the 79 bridge out in 52 ft of water all against the upriver side of the pilings facing the current.(suspending jerkbait).

Leaving in a few hrs to go to my own T held at the dam,one last time going as a non boater as havnt worked all the bugs out yet.
Hate having to downsize and take just some tackle hard to make the right decisions.
North area I do not do well, must be yankee bass.
Have two boxes of cranks, one of sinkers hooks etc doz packs of worms, dynamite(blackpowder was out of Pyrodex),nitro, ferris root, rabbits foot.
Carharts, rain suit, enough mre to last a week, two thermos of coffee.
Cartons of cigarettes and candy for bribes.
Did I leave something out, most likly whatever theys a biting is at home.
Water temp was warmer three weeks ago,had gotten cold and just now back to 51.

Was colder than crap, water temp dropped 2 deg while on the water. Was 56 at start ,54 at end of T.
Small bucks all over main lake points ,jerk bait, rubber back in the bays, slider head small worm.
Caught over 25 bass,none quite 15 in ,closest I got was 14 1/2,did get a 17 in shipjack lol.
Guy I drew went to Barkley,to which it isnt normally as good.
Had I taken my boat, most likly would have had a few fish as normally fish the points near the marina and they all gave up 3 to 4 keepers each.
T weight to win was over 21 lbs,yet 1/3 of the 30 plus boats blanked.
I did get to see a keeper in the boat but belonged to the boater,he got 1 on a shakey head slider 4 in worm.
I had on charharts,1/2 vest and a rain suit insulated at that and still got cold, took awile after moving each time to warm up.
Win some lose some I made the choice not to run mine as might have drawn a non boater who wanted to run a lot.
In two weeks next one is at home here at paris landing so its a continuing saga.
Ps love 80 deg plus water, love 80 deg plus at-do not normally do well below 60 at all.

I know what you mean about not doing well below 60. Thats in Jan. for us . I was up in the Delta Thurs and Fri. Fishing was tough only 2 jig fish for both days but both nice one's. 4.3 and 4.9 lbs. The water went from 54-60.4 any day now it should be on. The air temp started out about 40 and hit 84! Thurs. and 79 Fri. Talk about swings between highs and lows. I'll be back up there in April during the full moon with a buddy and his son. With any luck I'll be posting some pic's of a few dd's, the big girls should be out in full force than

Well to some degree as a non boater one is somewhat dependent upon the boater as to where ones fishes, you do get to ask for 1/2 of the time.
In this case during prefishing knew the key was west and nw banks,he fihed east and north ones, and got his 1 keeper on a north west bank, later in the day.
They are warmer this time of year.
It was so cold didnt want to ask to run back 20 miles to my water.
