I went to Mark Twain yesterday, put in at Ray Behrens ramp and fished just below the bridge in a few coves. Water temp was around 38 in the main lake and a few small spots in coves around 45. Went down to south fork and found some 45 degree water near the bridge. The fish still seem to be suspended in 15-20 ft. of water and did not have any success with catching any, although had a few soft strikes on a crankbait. It won't be long now and it should be getting real good. The lake is up about 8 feet over pool and should be cresting anytime.

I am going to try and go back on Tuesday Remington. I will know later this evening. I will probably try to fish in Lick Creek somewhere in the back, had lots of success there in the past. I have some secret crankbaits that I want to try out. SHHHHHHHH !!:sign0151:

Ok went to Twain today but theres a story behind it.......

1.) Woke up at 6 and got the boy off to school. Got home and put my two brand new TM Batteries in the boat. Put cranking battery in and hit the trim gauge for the engine. DEAD! DAMN IT! My attempt to save the cranking battery went out the window, I got pissed and went and bought a new one.

2.) Stopped in Perry to grab a license and fuel the boat. They only had 91 octane E-free fuel, DAMNED IT!

3.) Head to the ramp forget i need $3.00 for the ramp fee and I just spent all my cash on fuel and license. DAMN IT! Run back to gas staiton and buy a candy bar with $5.00 cash back.

4.) Head back to the ramp. Get to the ramp and cant find a GD pen to fill out the ramp slip. DAMNED IT!

5.) Pull up to the ramp and notice they MDC dont have the docks (remember I'm going solo) back in yet so now I have to beach my rig on shore as I haul butt to park my truck before my champ get beat up. DAMNED IT!

6.) Ran the dog poo out of my Champ and beat my top speed :party0011:(74 GPS, light, 30 gal of fuel, 25 Trophy, no Jack Plate, WOT). THought my face would peel off from the cold but I sure was smiling. Weather man said it was suposed to be sunny but wasnt, it had rained the night before. The fish we stacked on channel swings and channel points. I threw everything at em and couldnt get bit. The fishing sucked but I dont care I finally got to enjoy myself and run my rig for the first time this year.

These are the days of my life........:party0045:

Post script:

I was seriously thinking of putting on a jack plate last year but have decided against it. My 202 runs just fine without it.

Sounds like you had one of my days!! Glad it all worked out in the end for ya. I too found that the dock was pulled out of the water, what a pain in the arse. I think they are still out from the winter and now because of expected high water. I was going to go tomorrow, but once again that fell through. I just got home from being at my second job from 7:00 am yesterday morning, and I have to be back at 5:00 am tomorrow. Oh well maybe next week will bring good weather and a day off. We will have to meet up and do some fishing soon.

I'm heading to Mark Twain on Wednesday if anybody would like to join me. The weather is suppose to be awesome, sunny and in the 70's. I plan on launching at Ray Behrens around 7:00 a.m. The main lake temp is around 44 right now and should be improving with all the rain water runoff.

Note to everyone that uses Twain, the Florida Ramp does not require the $3.00 fee, much better than driving back to Perry to get cash or a Pen anyways

It's better to just buy the yearly pass for $30, you can use it on any corps lake. No looking for a pen or scrounging for $3.00 at the ramp.:wallbash:
