Terry G. If you go to Mercury's web site go to props you can put in your motor boat size and weight and what you want it for(pleasure speed ect) and it will give you recommendations on several props. Then check out e-bay under boat props and see if their any listed and also craigslist.com nder boats as Ive found stuff local their.

Hi Terry.
There are quite a few aftermarket prop makers that wont cost what a factory prop will. Are you looking for aluminum or stainless steel ?
Stainless is harder to find for the smaller size motors but usually can be had.
I'm in the process of starting up a propeller sales & repair shop here at home where prices can be lower because I have very little overhead. For the last 7 years I managed a prop shop for another man but he had to close the doors this year due to the slow economy.

well Mr Prop Doctor, i welcome your input.
i have the stock prop (alum) now but where we fish is in the Texas bays and there are shallow areas with oyster shell shole'sand i have eaten that prop pretty good, but still runnable though.
i am right now just looking for a spare "carry with me on the boat" prop and later on (if i can sell some pictures) buy a nice "tuned" prop for that motor.
the boat is a Panfish,(tracker/basspro)

Hey Terry, Could not help myself when you said the word "tune", Never tried to pull speed out of anything smaller than a merc 50hp but i did manage 3 more mph, this was on a Tracker Pro 17 w/a Merc 50.
As for the stainless on your boat, you might want to look at the Ballistic by michigan wheel (was attwood), my dad is running the same boat/engine combo you have and it performs very well and the price want kill you ...
Hope this helps, Jay

The Ballistic is a good prop but also dont overlook the Turbo props. They make scads of props for the smaller engines and do a very fine job on them. I have seen as much as 7mph increase on topend just by going ss on the smaller engines. Dont expect that on every one because each setup is totally different.
