Got troubles with the trim gauge! It don't work and I can't find a "sender" on the motor. This is the first boat I've had that has tilt and trim so I'm behind the eight ball on how the gauge gets it's signal!

For reference I've got a 1987 Johnson 88 Spl. Where should I be looking for the "sender", and does it work off the same principle as a fuel gauge?

Hello,
My name is Erik and I reside in Bloomington, MN. I have been a life long fisherman and this past weekend I finally made my first bass boat purchase! The last couple years I have been fishing out of a 14ft fiberglass V-Hull boat which was ok but I got the "ok" from my wife to get a newer boat (since she loves to fish too)!

Anyway I look forward to the large amount of info these forums have to offer!

On to the pics!

So this is my recent purchase. 1985 Champion Fish 'N Ski 18ft. I have done some research and I am wondering if it is infact a 1985? I can't confirm that they made a dual console in '85.

Had a few Extra mins tonight and decided to get the old girl wet. Loaded the wife and kids and went to the nav. Channel. We live just up stream from the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, the largest inland port in the USA if I'm not mistaking. Anyway after backing the boat down the ramp I fired her up and let her run a bit then when I was satisfied with the way she ran I disconnected from the trailer and had the wife go park.

I made a couple of circles while she and the kids made their way back to the dock, then my son and I went for a little ride.

Then I returned to the dock and took the girls for a ride too. My oldest daughter was at violin lessons and missed out, maybe next time.

Had a great time and found a couple of minor things that need attention, guess better now then when I get out for a fishing trip!
I can barely reach the wheel (going to move my seat forward) but also need to lower the wheel angle like you would with a tilt wheel on a car except permanant. It's like trying to drive a bus now.
Any ideas? Figured somebody made and angle mount or collar.
I'm sure I can make it on my lathe but hope there is something commercial.
