Before I get into the meat of this topic I first want to say that between work, fishing and time with the family, I haven’t had the tube on long enough in recent weeks/months to really get a grasp of exactly what’s going on with this particular “conflict”. As such I am looking to see what exactly I am missing that doesn’t seem to make sense of this issue.

On the radio this morning (and forgive me if I mislabel some of the terminology) they stated that there was an overwhelming vote of approval for referendum to separate Crimea from the rest of the Ukraine to join Russia. Also stated was that 97% of the voters native to Crimea were in fact of Russian descent.

They then go on to say that the military occupation was unlawful according world law and the UN along with the United States are up in arms about the whole situation. I am not surprised personally given what little I’ve gathered about the whole situation. However, I do have some questions about the information presented.

#1, if 97% of the people in Crimea are of Russian descent, does it not make sense to allow the separation from Ukraine if that’s what the People want? Unless the results were skewed and the reason it was 97% is because only Russian occupants of Crimea as a whole were “allowed” to vote? I don’t know just seems fishy is all, but probably because again I don’t have enough “facts”. Facts as in whatever the media wants us to hear / believe.

Another question I have is what makes this occupation “unlawful”? Has there been any civilian or military casualties on either side? Was it due to retaliation to civil unrest due to foreign occupation? No opinion stated, again just want to get the facts…

And my 3rd question is how ironic is this that the US (no offense guys) has the balls to question a countries motives or rights to invade a country unlawfully REGARDLESS of the intent when as a County the US has done the same or similar to no less than 30+ countries since the 2nd World War. Am I missing something? I get that sometimes intervention is needed, but I can site several clear and obvious examples of the contrary.

Once again, I don’t have as much information on this subject as I probably could so all opinions aside I just want to get the facts again realizing that the facts are only as deep as what we choose to believe as presented by the media ;) Fire away boys!
