    Shadow Bass Boat

Another boat that had some similar nice looking lines that went away several years ago was Randall Craft. Very similar to the Shadow hull. A mold that I wish someone would buy and start producing again is the old Hydra-Sport X-270 or VS-150. The '84 & '85 X-270 (called the VL-270 those years)...

    Jay, I have another queston

Thanks for the reply Jay. I got the prop on and ran my boat this weekend. I had to get a tab washer spacer and a flat zinc anode to install the prop. It is kinda slow to get on plane, but once up it runs good. I trimmed the motor up till I got it up to 6,000 RPM, and the GPS was bumping...

    Jay, I have another queston

I received my A40 27P Tempest today. I can't believe how good of condition this thing is in for a prop this old. It looks almost new. I've posted a photo of it below. Not a bad craigslist score for $150 plus shipping. My Laser II had a flow torque hub in it. This prop has a fixed rubber...

    Opinions on foils

Bullet, I understand what your saying. I've just heard some boaters say that their boat will absolutely not get on plane without the foil.

    Opinions on foils

IMHO, if you have to use one, your boat isn't set up correctly (wrong prop, wrong motor height, etc.).

What is the best bass lake in the country

I know the lakes in Southern California produce the biggest bass in the country right now, but I would say overall, the best lake in the country for bass fishing is Texas's Lake Sam Rayburn.

I can not believe there is

Hey Southern: I like college ball better than pro also. LSU alum here. What do you think is going to happen when the Tigers roll into Tuscaloosa this year? I thought our old coach was doing a pretty good job with the Tide until they took that beatdown from Utah in the Sugar Bowl last year.

    New member, 1st post, question?

Yeah, I would rather have the Flo-Torq hub, but the A40's had the pressed in rubber hub. Did the A45 have the thin blades too? I've never heard that the A45 is as fast as the original A40 series. For what that A45 on evil bay will end up selling for, I could have another hub installed in the...

Jay: What's wrong with the A40 Tempest? I've heard that it might be the fastest of the Tempest series of props.

Jay: You didn't mention the VMax T1 prop as one of the ones you tried on your boat. That is a big prop at 15 1/8" diameter. I bet that one would run quite well on your rig.

    New member, 1st post, question?

Jay: The deal on the 25P Tempest + fell through. Someone beat me to it. I have now found a pretty good deal on a 27P Tempest that is in great shape. It is one of the original A40 Quicksilver Tempest. My local prop guy said he doesn't think my old 2.4 liter 200HP Mariner can turn a 27P...

    New member, 1st post, question?

Maybe a 25p will be too small. But something definetly wasn't right with the 26p Turbo M. Turning 6000 rpm on a 1,150 lb. hull with a 26 pitch prop, I should have been going faster than 60mph. I actually think the Turbo had more slip than my 25p Laser II. From what everyone tells me, the...

    Bravo 1 for bass boat?

I've noticed that there is quite a bit of interest by some bass boaters in the Mercury Bravo 1 props. These are big diameter props designed for large heavy V bottom power boats with outdrives. Do these props work well on a outboard bass boat?

    New member, 1st post, question?

I'm waiting on the Tempest + to come in. The only prop I've ran since installing the jackplate is the 26p Turbo M. I had the 25p Laser II on before installing the jackplate, but haven't tried it with the jackplate on the boat.

    New member, 1st post, question?

The 26p Turbo prop is a 14 1/4" diameter. The Tempest + is a 14 5/8" diameter prop. Every prop guy that I've talked to said the Tempest props are harder to turn than most other comparable pitch props. My local prop specialist told me that he didn't think that I could turn a 27p Tempest + to...

    New member, 1st post, question?

Jay: Wanted to give you an update on my setup. Got my jackplate on and purchased a 26p 14.25" diameter Turbo M prop off ebay. The prop isn't in excellent condition but pretty descent. Running at 3.5" below the pad, I got about 60mph (gps) at 6000RPM. I could turn it more but wouldn't...

    Grease from speedometer pick-up hole?

It is an oil injected motor. I changed the lower unit lube yesterday, and the old lube was not milky at all. Just a solid dark blue/green color, and very stinky.

    Grease from speedometer pick-up hole?

You know, now that I think about it, it did actually look like unburnt oil from the exhaust. But if that's what it is, why is it coming out there?

    Grease from speedometer pick-up hole?

After running my boat yesterday, and loading it on the trailer, while I was putting the transom saver on, I noticed what looked like lower unit grease coming out of the speedometer pick-up hole on the foot of the motor. My speedometer has not worked in quite some time, and I haven't bothered...

What prop do I need J??????

I think they're on there way to Jay's shop in Mississippi to get a B&B job done on that thing.
