Southeast Arkansas’ Lake Monticello is a springtime big bass factory! That’s big news, right? Guess what? The summer can be great too. This past weekend the lake was turning the big heads out. There were several bass over nine pounds caught on Monticello on Saturday alone. The crowd is really down right now. There were no more than twenty to twenty-five boats on the lake at any one time. The current patterns are offshore deep worm and jig fishing around humps and old roadbeds and chasing schooling fish. There are some really nice bass chasing shad. When the fish come up, they will kill just about anything that looks like a shad. The bass are very healthy and strong, so big line is a must! One of the great things about fishing on Monticello is the feeling that on any cast you may catch a bass larger than any you have ever caught. Before you make the drive down to Lake Monticello check out the latest fishing report on monticellobigbass.com. Ya’ll come on down and catch your bass of a lifetime!
