Weather was hot... as usual... with a little bit of overcast. Here's my log of the day.
6AM - Arrive at the dock. No other trailers. Not a good sign...
6:30AM - Find nothing on the flats but weeds and an annoyed airboat captain. At least it's deep enough that I can get the boat out there.
7:30AM: Really? I've been to four spots and I don't even see any baitfish.
8:30AM: Alligator Alley, Miami Canal, S9, Four corners, L68, all dead. Contemplate dialing the phone number graffiti under the bridge just to see if they still work.
9:00AM: It's a big gar...I hate gars. Thing tries to bite everyone in the boat and stinks.
9:30AM: Tested the maneuverability of the boat by driving in circles and jumping wakes for 15 minutes.
10:00AM: Spent 40 minutes running the fishfinder over a submerged point. My partner and I then spend the rest of the trip discussing geology.
11:00AM: Landed a big one....yes a big platter of sushi. The boat waits in the parking lot on the trailer.
No fish. Nothing from cranks to spinners to worms worked. Even the guy running shiners caught nothing.
