FYI, Good News for Tennessee Anglers

The integration of Florida largemouth bass into Chickamauga Lake in the southern part of the state has been encouraging enough to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency that the organization will consider similar releases in Middle Tennessee lakes such as Percy Priest and Old Hickory.

Genetic studies revealed in December that Florida largemouth bass were doing well in Chickamauga and resulted in anglers catching more trophy-sized fish there — more “headline-making catches,” according to the TWRA.

The agency started releasing Florida largemouth bass in Chickamauga in 2000. The latest sampling showed that many of those fish successfully bred with a strain of largemouth bass already in the lake.
