This fishing report has been generated from the best information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Catches of the week

Cochiti Lake: Nov. 3, Lawrence Monson of Rio Rancho caught a 37-inch, 10-pound, 10-ounce northern pike. He was trolling a Rapala.
Chama River: Nov. 7, Mike Martinez of Albuquerque caught a 20-inch brown trout. He was fishing below El Vado and using a brown wooly bugger. On the same day, Mark Bailey of Amarillo caught a 20.5-inch brown below El Vado. He was using a rainbow colored Rapala.
Elephant Butte Lake: Nov. 7 Frank Ramsey of El Paso caught a 4.89-pound largemouth bass. He was using a bluegill colored Rapala DT6 crank bait.
Ute Lake: Nov. 8, Bobbie Jo Goodson, age 10, of Dalhart, Texas, caught and released a 3.10-pound smallmouth bass. She was using a slab spoon.

NORTHEAST AREA


CIMARRON RIVER: Water flow below Eagle Nest Lake as of Monday was 26cfs. Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using San Juan worms, small bead head nymphs and salmon eggs.
CONCHAS LAKE: Fishing pressure was very light but a few walleye and white bass were taken by anglers using jigging spoons, minnows and crank baits. We had no reports on other species.
COYOTE CREEK: Trout fishing was slow.
EAGLE NEST LAKE: Kokanee snagging was fair in the Honey Hole area, had picked up during the week at the south ramp area, but had slowed again by the weekend. Fishing was slow-to-fair using roe sacs, salmon eggs and power bait for trout.
LAKE MALOYA/LAKE ALICE: Fishing at both lakes was good using pink power bait, Pistol Petes, corn and white spinners for 9-to-13-inch trout. Best baits at Maloya were Pistol Petes and power bait.
MCALLISTER LAKE: Closed due to high golden algae content.
MONASTERY LAKE: Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait, spinners and corn.
PECOS RIVER: Water flow near the town of Pecos on Monday was 45cfs. Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using small copper john barrs, pheasant tail nymphs and salmon eggs.
RED RIVER: Water flow below the hatchery was 60cfs. Trout fishing was fair using wooly buggers, San Juan worms, egg patterns and salmon eggs.
RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 365cfs. Trout fishing was fair-to-good using bead head pheasant tail nymphs, wooly buggers, prince nymphs, spinners and night crawlers. Fishing was slow-to-fair using streamers and jerk baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.
SHUREE PONDS: We had no reports from anglers this week.
SPRINGER LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
STORRIE LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
UTE LAKE: Fishing was good using slab spoons and blade baits at 30-to-40 feet and minnows on lindy rigs in 26-to-56 feet of water for walleye and white bass. Fishing was fair-to-good using cut bait and dough bait for catfish. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was slow.

NORTHWEST AREA


ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species. A few smallmouth bass and small walleye were caught by anglers using crank baits, minnows and jigs.
BLUEWATER LAKE: Closed until spring of 2010. The main area of the park is scheduled to open on March 1.
BRAZOS RIVER: Trout fishing was slow.
CANJILON LAKES: Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait, corn and salmon eggs.
CHAMA RIVER: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 150cfs and 175cfs respectively. Fishing above and below El Vado and below Abiquiu was good using salmon eggs, wooly buggers, Rapalas and gold Panther Martins for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout.
COCHITI LAKE: Fishing was slow with just a few northern pike caught by anglers trolling and casting crank baits.
EL VADO LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
FENTON LAKE: Trout fishing was slow. Fishing pressure was light.
HERON LAKE: Bank fishing for rainbow trout was fair-to-good using roe sacs, power bait and home made dough baits. The kokanee snagging season here, on Willow Creek and on the Pine River opens Friday, November 13.
JACKSON LAKE: We had no reports from anglers this week.
JEMEZ WATERS: Water flow on the Jemez as of Monday morning was 27cfs near Jemez Springs. Fishing on the Jemez was fair using salmon eggs and parachute adams for trout. We had no reports on other streams.
MANZANO LAKE: Fishing was slow.
MCGAFFEY LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
NAVAJO LAKE: Kokanee snagging was slow-to-fair in the Pine marina area and at the dam. Fishing was fair using roe sacs and cut bait for catfish and a few trout. Fishing was slow with a few northern pike caught on cut bait and spinner baits. We had no reports on other species.
RAMAH LAKE: The water level is extremely low. Fishing was slow for all species.
RIO PUEBLO: We had no reports from anglers this week.
SAN JUAN: Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 481cfs. SPECIAL NOTE: Effective September 15, the entire stretch of Quality Waters became Catch and Release only waters. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was slow-to-fair using small pheasant tail nymphs, sparkle worms, parachute adams and emergers. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using salmon eggs, garlic cheese spinners and power bait.
SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The water level is quite low and fishing was slow.
TINGLEY BEACH: Trout fishing at the Central and Youth ponds was good using power bait, salmon eggs and Kastmasters. Fishing for trout in the Catch and Release Pond was good using small scuds, egg patterns and dead chickens.

SOUTHWEST AREA


BEAR CANYON: We had no reports from anglers this week.
BILL EVANS LAKE: Trout fishing was fair using wooly buggers, salmon eggs, corn and power bait. We had no reports on other species.
BURN LAKE: We had no reports from anglers this week.
CABALLO LAKE: Fishing continued to be slow for all species.
ELEPHANT BUTTE: Fishing was good using crank baits, spinners and grubs for white bass. The best reports came from Ash Canyon and near Kettle Top. Fishing was fair-to-good using spinner baits and crank baits for largemouth bass. Fishing for catfish was fair using live bait and cut bait. We had no reports on other species.
ESCONDIDA LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
GILA RIVER: Water flow on the Gila as of this past Monday was 61cfs. Fishing on the Forks was slow. Fishing pressure was very light.
GLENWOOD POND: We had no reports from anglers this week.
LAKE ROBERTS: Fishing was slow-to-fair using salmon eggs, power bait and spoons for trout. We had no reports on other species.
PERCHA DAM: Fishing was slow for all species.
QUEMADO LAKE: Fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait for trout. Fishing was slow-to-fair using jerk baits, large streamers and spinners for tiger musky.
RIO GRANDE: Water flow below Elephant Butte on Monday was 24cfs. Fishing was slow for all species. Below Caballo fishing was slow-to-fair using minnows and grubs for walleye and catfish.
SNOW LAKE: We had no reports from anglers this week.

SOUTHEAST AREA


BATAAN LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
BONITO LAKE: Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait, garlic cheese, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes under a bubble.
BOSQUE REDONDO: Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using flies under a bubble and salmon eggs.
BRANTLEY LAKE: Anglers are to practice catch and release for all fish here as high levels of DDT were found in several fish. We had no reports from anglers this week.
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.
GRINDSTONE RESERVOIR: Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs, corn, Pistol Petes and spinners.
JAL LAKE: We had no reports from anglers this week.
LAKE VAN: Fishing was slow for all species.
OASIS PARK POND: Fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait for trout.
PECOS RIVER: Water flow on Monday below Sumner Lake was 1.4cfs. Fishing was slow although the area was recently stocked with trout and should improve.
PERCH LAKE: Fishing was slow-to-fair using spinners and Pistol Petes for trout.
RUIDOSO RIVER: Water flow at Hollywood on Monday was 11cfs. Trout fishing was slow.
SANTA ROSA LAKE: Fishing was fair using chigger craws, tubes and crank baits for a mix of smallmouth and largemouth bass. Fishing for all other species was slow.
SUMNER LAKE: Fishing was fair using minnows and red curly tail grubs for 13-to-17-inch walleye. Fishing was slow-to-fair using spinner baits for bass. We had no reports on other species.
