Northwest

Animas River - The flow is 374 cfs. Fishing is reported as slow with little pressure. The river was stocked with 249 triploid rainbow trout last week.
Chama River - Upper section flow is 51 cfs, no report on the fishing there. Below El Vado Dam, the flow is 82 cfs and the water is off color. Fishing is good for browns averaging 14 -18 inches. Anglers are having success using black and gold Panther Martins or night crawlers. 11-14 inch rainbows are also reported as good using Power Bait, night crawlers or salmon eggs. Wooly buggers and bead headed nymphs are reported working for both species.
San Juan River - Upper section-Catch and Release flow is 481 cfs and visibility is 5 feet. Fishing is good for rainbows and browns. The best fishing in the morning will be with midge pupa and larvae, size 24 and 26. You can find fish eating midges of all colors, dark midges have been best, black, brown, dark gray and olive. Some fish have been eating cream as well. Try fishing BWO's from 11:00am to about 5:00pm. Dark gray and olive been the best colors in a size 22 and 24. Back to midges in the evenings. Black and brown have been killing it!
Lower section – Open waters, fishing is good with night crawlers, salmon eggs and the same flies as for the upper section.
Abiquiu Lake- Fishing is very slow. The Army Corps of Engineers have switched over to winter staffing and all but a few primitive sites are closed for the season. There was very little pressure and fishing is reported as very slow.
El Vado Lake – Salmon snagging season continues but has slowed down drastically and not much traffic since Heron Lake opened. Best success is being reported on south side of lake. Kokanee snagging season started as of Oct. 1 and will run till Dec. 31.
Heron Lake Salmon snagging season opened this past weekend and will remain open thru Dec 31. Snagging along the shore from Piedra Cove to the east side of the dam was reported as good. Shore fishing for trout is reported as good to excellent with roe collected from salmon caught at El Vado Lake. Spinners, worms and Power Bait are also working.
Jackson Lake Lots of bird hunters on the lake and very little fishing pressure. The lake was stocked with 1,498 triploid rainbow trout last week.
Lake FarmingtonTrout fishing is reported as slow to fair, some anglers are having luck trolling in deep water with streamers and woolly buggers.
Morgan Lake – Bass fishing is good and is getting better with the cooling temperatures. Morgan Lake is a popular winter fishery and starting to get crowded. 5 - 6 inch Strike King Plastics and Finesse worms in dark colors with bright colored bellies are reported catching the fish.
Navajo Lake – Salmon snagging is slowing down and fish are reported as soft. Kokanee snagging season started as of Oct. 1 and will run till Dec. 31. Northern pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass are reported as slow and infrequent with the best chance of success in the Frances and La Jara Canyons using tubes and crank baits. Also, worms and spinners are working for the bass. A few Catfish have been landed around snagging areas using the roe from the salmon.

Northeast


Cimarron River - The flows are 0.86 cfs below Eagle Nest Dam and 7.2 cfs near Cimarron. Fishing conditions have changed to slow due to water levels and cold weather. Conditions will are not likely to improve much until spring when warmer weather and flows come back.
Costilla Creek – The flow is 11 cfs near the town of Costilla. Trout fishing is reported as slow due to very low water levels.
Red River - Flows at Questa are 14 cfs, and 44 cfs below the hatchery. Fishing is good for rainbows below the hatchery with bead head nymphs and various flies. Bait fishermen might try spinners, salmon eggs or Power Bait.
Rio Grande- Flows are 318 cfs near Cerro and 501 cfs below the Taos Junction Bridge. Fishing is slow to fair at Pilar. Trout are fair with bead head nymphs and streamers. Best bet is to fish edges and eddies. Some pike have been taken on large spinners and red and white whisters.
Rio Hondo –The water is low with flows at 11 cfs, lower section at confluence with Rio Grande is where the only opportunities are until spring. Trout are slow to fair with various flies, spinners and worms.
Rio Pueblo - Flow is 11 cfs and there is no report this week.
Cabresto Lake – Light pressure, water is low with the construction on the dam.
Charette Lakes – The lake closed Oct. 31 and re-opens next March.
Clayton Lake – The lake closed Oct. 31 and re-opens next March.
Eagle Nest Lake – Fishing has slowed due to weather. trout are fair trolling Platte River Specials and other light tackle. Shore fishing and fishing from boats anchored for rainbows is reported as fair with gold Cast Masters, olive woolly buggers, Power Bait and worms. Kokanee snagging season started as of Oct. 1 and will run till Dec. 31. Snagging for salmon is reported as off and on around the boat ramp, the south part of the lake and on the Northeast side. Perch are good on worms.
Lake Alice and Lake Maloya– Trout are reported as good in both lakes using woolly buggers, Pistol Pete’s, dough baits and Power Bait.
Maxwell Lakes – The lakes closed Oct. 31 and re-open next March.
Santa Cruz Lake – No report.
Shuree Ponds –No report. The ponds close Dec. 31 and re-open next July.
Springer Lakes – Water levels are low and there has been light pressure.

West-Central, including the Jemez Mountains


Jemez River, East Fork, Guadalupe and San Antonio - Flow on the Jemez River is 28 cfs. The upper streams are starting to ice up and winter fishing is here. From now until spring the best bet is to fish the Jemez river below Battleship Rock. Fly fishing is good with caddis, terrestrials, stimulators and bead headed nymphs. Panther Martins, Power Bait or worms are also working.
Metro Drainages - Trout fishing is reported as fair to good for trout with all methods taking fish. Metro drainages were stocked last week with triploid rainbow trout Albuquerque 700 trout, Bernalillo 200 trout, Belen 875 trout and Corrales 550 trout.
Bluewater Lake – Fishing continues to be good for trout on peach Power Bait. Tiger Muskies are reported as slow, some fish being hooked but few are being landed.
Cochiti Lake – Very little pressure. Water temp's are in the low 50's. A few smallmouth bass were taken on crank baits along with a few pike. One pike measured at 27 inches. Some catfish were also landed using minnows.
Fenton Lake – The lake was stocked with 2,755 rainbow trout last week.
The water is clear and fishing is good from shore with Power Bait, spinners and worms. Better fishing is reported from float tubes with green or black woolly buggers or green Pistol Pete’s.
Tingley Beach - South Pond catch and release - Trout fishing in the South/Catch and Release Pond has been good. Anglers using egg patterns and black leeches are having success. Children's and Central Ponds – Central ponds were stocked with 1,500 triploid rainbow trout. Trout fishing in the Tingley Beach Children's and Central Ponds is good. Best reports are from anglers using Pistol Pete's.

East–Central, including the Pecos River


Coyote Creek - Flow is 3.3 cfs. The water is low and fishing is slow with no pressure.
Pecos River - Flows are 29 cfs near Pecos. With the low and clear water, approach the river with some stealth. Flies, spinners and various baits are all working and fishing is reported as good.
Conchas Lake – Fishing is reported as slow with very little pressure. No report.
Morphy Lake – The lake closed Oct. 31 and re-opens next April.
Santa Rosa Lake – No report this week.
Storrie Lake – Fishing for trout is reported as fair. Success is being had with cheese, worms and Power Bait.
Sumner Lake - Winter trout waters, stilling basin – Very little pressure. The Pecos River below Sumner Lake was stocked with 279 rainbow trout last week.
Ute Lake – Water temperature is around 54 degrees, main lake clear, river arms stained. Fishing overall has started to pick up a bit. Walleye are fair fishing at 42 - 46 feet with slabs and spinners. Night crawlers in 20-30 feet of water has also produced some fish.White-bass are good fishing at 32 - 38 feet with slabs and spinner baits. smallmouth and largemouth bass are fishing slow. Catfish are good to excellent using stink baits in 4-15 feet of water.

Southwest


Gila River - The flow is 65 cfs and fishing is slow with very little pressure.
Rio Grande- The flow is 21 cfs below Elephant Butte Dam. No report. The river was stocked with 1,703 triploid rainbow trout last week.
Bill Evans Lake: Winter trout waters – No report. The lake was stocked with 1,600 triploid rainbow trout last week.
Caballo Lake – Fishing is generally slow with light pressure. Water level are low and will remain so until spring. Anglers having success are fishing the deeper holes. Catfish are good using chicken liver, worms or shrimp. Walleye are reported as fair using night crawlers on the bottom. No report on other species.
Elephant Butte Lake – Fishing pressure has been light with very little pressure. White bass are slow with shiners or white jigging spoons. Catfish are slow with liver, minnows or shrimp. No reports on other species.
Glenwood Ponds – Fishing has been slow with light pressure.
Lake Roberts – No report. The lake was stocked with 12,960, 6.5 inch triploid rainbow trout last week.
Quemado Lake – Trout are fair to good with Power Bait or worms. Tiger Muskies are reported as slow to fair using Z-rays or Rapalas. The lake was stocked with 2,430 triploid rainbow trout last week.
Snow Lake – No report.

Southeast


Black River - Flow is 12 cfs. The river was stocked with 200 triploid rainbow trout last week. No report.
Bonito Creek – No report.
Rio Ruidoso - Flow is .02 cfs. The water is low and trout are slow to fair with worms or salmon eggs. The river was stocked with 1,250 rainbow trout last week.
Bonito Lake - Fishing is good using with Pistol Pete’s, spinners, spoons, salmon eggs or Power Bait. Some nice sized fish being landed. The lake closes for the season Nov. 30 and reopens next April.
Bottomless Lakes: Winter trout waters – Devils Ink Well was stocked with 500 triploid rainbow trout last week. No report.
Brantley Reservoir – There has been light pressure. Catfish are reported as fair at night with night crawlers. A mandatory catch and release is in place at Brantley Lake from the dept. of Game and Fish. Pesticides, DDT’s have been found in the fish, do not keep or eat them.
Grindstone Reservoir – Fishing is reported as fair for trout using spinners, Marshmallows, worms, Power Bait and salmon eggs.
Lake Van: Winter trout waters – No report. The lake was stocked with 2,475 triploid rainbow trout last week.
