I was sitting there yesterday and got to thinking about PFD's.....the different ones available..there performance etc etc.....
I was wondering what type do you normally use. I know you have to use a Type 3 when running the main engine. I for along time used what they or some folks have called the 100mph vests. I just felt safer in them. Of course anytime I was really pushing a boat especially for the big numbers I would opt for nothing less than a quality vest such as those.
One question that I have is on the Mustang type vests. Can you LEGALLY use these in leiu of the bulkier 100 mph vests. I am looking at these for use in the summer time. We all know that the big 100mph vests are bulky and can be extremely hot....YES they are safer and I do NOT try to do anything that is not safe. I was just wondering if the Mustang type vests where legal for use when running the big engine.
