I recently bought a used TR19 with a 175 EFI Merc. When I got it, it had a Predator 4 blade 25P prop. It has a 6" JP. The engine was set at 3" above the transom. At WOT (air temp at 55 degrees F, 1/2 tank fuel, no fishing gear, no water in wells) it would turn 6100 rpm and run 62.5 GPS. I moved it up to 5 1/4" and put a 25P Fury on it. With 3/4 tank of fuel, fishing gear, air temp 65 degrees, and no water in wells, I turned 5800 rpm at WOT (I know that in warmer weather the rpm will come down), had 30 psi water pressure, and ran 69.3 mph GPS with basically no rooster tail. I am pleased with that.
I have read on this blog and others that if I go higher with the engine, it will help reduce the chine walk (which is pretty bad). My question is, how much higher can I go before I have water pressure problems?
