I hate to burst your bubble.......... it does not make the skeg stronger, it actually does the opposite, weaken's the skeg because of the two holes. Those two top holes present stress risers, that is where a crack would develop because of it being the weakest point. Think of it as a paper check...

It's a wear pad, so if you drag it, your not cutting the bottom of the the skeg off, sort of like a "Skid Plate".........................

Good look'n install. I would not just ask 2 screws to support the torque tab, that tab see's tremendous force/drag at WOT. As an idea, why not use stainless steel pop rivits to secure the remaining holes of the tab if your not in favor or more screws.........JMO....
