I have a 10 year old, 70 hp Yamaha outboard (on a pontoon boat) that is never removed from the water (lives at my dock). Last week, it started idling rough and at top speed...it runs...then bogs down..then runs...then bogs down...almost as if you are pushing the throttle back and forth. I have always used carb cleaner (B-12) with it and I tried cleaning the gas filter but that hasn't helped it. I put in new plugs about a month ago. What else could cause this? Where should I look next? I'm some distance from any outboard mechanics.
