An old fiberglass fly rod 5 or 6 wgt that one can find at many yard sales for 5 bucks,makes a very nice 8 ft crappie pole when a spinning reel is attached.
Even a spin cast reel like a model 10 to 40 Johnson which is a sideways spin cast reel having line come out the side and button on the other side works nicely.
They no longer make that reel but can be had on ebay for ten to twelve bucks,sometimes looking almost pristine.
