Sorry I have not been active since the server has been offline. Teasing a bad back and can't sit at the computer much. But, better now. I would like to talk to anyone out there about outboard starters. When I bought my 95 Ranger w/Johnson FastStrike 150HP, the starter was making a buzzing noise, but would start. Then I remembered a similar problem with my ole 63 Chevy Pickup. Anyhow, just like the Chevy the starter kept getting worse. Sure enough what happened, the starter siezed up, and put a very large load on the battery. Wore it down in no time. Made our way to the ramp using the trolling motor. New Starter plus labor $225. So, I have learned a lesson even with boats, if something is wrong, check it out or have it checked out, just don't put it off. It will bite you in the long run.
