Fished the Buckeye Lake tournament for the Buckeye Crappie Challenge on Saturday May 2, 2009. We had several good fish pre-fishing Friday and they held up for the most part for the tournament.
We finished 3rd with 8.05# it took 8.40# to win. We needed one more descent kicker but overall a good day on the water. We caught all of our fish on rocks right next to the bank with our ice bobbers set 8". All fish were caught on Southern Pro Stingers in black/chart. and blue/chart. We probably caught around 50 fish. Big fish was 1.23# and we had a 1.13#.
As always it was an 8 fish limit and we had a pound average. My partner lost two fish that would have won it for us giving us another $1100.00 on top of the check we got.
We are currently in second place on the trail only 9 points from first with our favorite lake this weekend.... Indian Lake. If you live near Ohio you need to check out the trail it is getting huge and we are getting alot of Crappie USA Teams join our trail because of the success.
