Does anyone permanently hook a charger to the starting battery? I was thinking of it because in the Spring I only make 1/4 to 1/2mile trips with the big motor so the battery never gets charged up. After 3-4 trips of starting the motor, running 2 fish finders/GPSs, Structure Scan and lights the battery (Interstate Group 27 Marine Starting Battery) is run down enough that the motor won't start.
However this brings up another question. If I do permanently mount a charger to the starting battery, will the charger get fried from the output of the motor's alternator?
As you can see I tend to over-analyze everything.
