These kids are very talented and definitely catch fish. However, they have a lot to learn. The final between the last two showed me a few things that they need to learn. Because the new generation of anglers use like 60# braid! they have zero fear of losing a fish to the point that they grab the line every time and handline the fish to the boat, then try to bellygrab it into the boat while it's still jumping and then wonder why it got loose. They also rush it in without playing it with the rod, and while the school is still busting the surface behind the boat, they hold it up for the camera and talk about it while the clock is still ticking and there's active fish still busting behind them. They handle the fish without lipping instead which Jimmy Houston pointed out shouldn't be allowed to protect the slime coat and I agree. Today, the winner, from Lousiana Monroe Colledge won a spot in the 2015 Classic after he hooked himself in the head with a treble hook because he was rushing to make another cast. Then, after he gets a 4 pound fish, puts it in the well and leaves the lid open so the others could jump out when they see daylight. Guess that's never happened to him yet. I've seen bass jump out of the well back into the lake many times as soon as the lid opened. It's cool that they have this great opportunity that I never had but they need some coaching for sure. Do you agree or did you see it differently if you watched it today?
