Well, this is the best time of the year. Water levels are as low as they will be all year and water temps are up to 78 degrees in the morning, rising to 80 degrees by mid day. The big girls are pushed out into the main canalway and ready to be caught. Tournament there on the 27th won with 37 lbs!!!! That's insane...

I went out at 7am and topwater started out pretty strong. Horny toads and walking the dog types of baits were the baits of choice with some great results, including several in the 4 lb range, and plenty of bass in the 2-3 lb range. Fish were caught on River2Sea Rovers, Zoom Horny Toads, Gambler Big EZ swimbaits, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits also got slammed!. As the water warmed up and the bass got deeper, pumpkinseed speed worms and senko black with blue flake worms also yielded bass, but the biggest fish 6 lb-9 lbs were all caught flipping black/blue jigs. After 3pm, the top water bite picked up again. Caught my last 10 bass on a topwater Rover #98 by River2Sea.

Take advantage before the rainy season returns next month and water levels start to rise. Get out there and catch a big one!
