One of the most popular baits on Ky lake is the black spro frog jr,however it and sumo frogs in larger sizes have one thing in common, they dont work well the way they come.Recommendations include cutting from 1/4 to 1/2 in off the legs plus using a 50 lb heavy braid, after tuning a few 9 dollar frogs to the point of ruining them, one eventually learns how to tune them(costly).
So the purpose of this article is to show or give advice to new froggers.
The simple pro tournament frog (also bobbys perfect frog)unpopular because its not realistic, works out of the box as sold,on even mono(not recommended).
Manns is or looks just a tad better and works out of the box.
The Bully Wa in all sizes works out of the box as sold, and does the Spro Jr the smallest size.
Sinkers such as Ribbet work like a buzzbait or in a jerk retrieve just under the water.Depps is an odd creature that also mimics a buzzbait and floats.
The new spro popper and evergreen both work as sold.
So if your tired of trying to get some tuned try using one of those listed above.
