Help with planning a Texas fishing vacation

I am starting to gather info on fishing in Texas next winter....is it even done in late Feb. I will be staying in San Antonio and would like to do some bass fishing and don't mind driving to lakes within 150 miles of there. Maybe Lake Fork or where ever I can get on some quality fish. I plan to hire a guide as I will not be bringing my boat.
