I took my 'new to me' Champ out on Sunday afternoon for it's first float test. The bilge filled up and I'm suspecting hose failure after 5 years in Arizona storage (or maybe I just don't know the boat that well). The bilge pump worked but I saw somewhere that suggested having 2 bilge pumps - one with an auto capability.
What about plumbing??? If I add an automatic bilge what do I do with the exit hose? Cut another hole in the hull? Can I simply tee it into the existing bilge exit hose? (I could assume that the manual would only be needed in bad times and then have to wonder if a 3/4" hose would be a problem unless it could handle 750+500gph = 1250gph...
Should I tee it into a 1 1/4" hose???
Thanks in advance - you guys rock!
