[ICAST 2023] Boonedox Slot Stick Clears it Up for Slot Redfish
Best known for kayak accessories like the Groovy Kayak Landing Gear and Groovy T-Bone Bed Extender, Boonedox, was at ICAST this year showing off something different, This time something for anglers fishing from the sand, a new surf fishing product, the Slot Stick surf rod holder. These are new premium rod holders purpose-built for surf anglers who regularly catch and target redfish in the surf. The rod holders are made from a single piece of aluminum tube, then laser cut for the precision you want for a measuring tape. The design also does not use any sharp 90s for any of the cuts so no weak points in its design. The rod holders double as a fish ruler with a redfish-patterned vinyl wrap that has inch markings up to 18 inches. This is the minimum size limit for Redfish in NC, GA, and FL. From that 18-inch mark to the end of the Slot Stick is precisely 27 inches which is also the upper end of the slot for redfish in those states as well, so any redfish that sits anywhere in the middle is more than welcome to come home with you for a dip in some blackening seasoning.
The Slot Stick ships with a BDX No-Stick towel that is attached to a D-Clip. That clip does double duty and acts as the bottom of the rod holder and can be moved up or down the rod holder in the precut holes to adjust how deep your surf rod sits in the holder. The Slot Stick is available now on the Boonedox website and retails for $69.95 for one, or $269.95 for a four-pack.
