[ICAST 2023] The Next Step in Electric Reels the Daiwa Seapower 1200

The “Best Saltwater Reel of the New Product Showcase” for this year is Daiwa’s newest addition to their Dendoh line of fishing reels. The new Seapower 1200 will become the new standard for electric reel performance. The reels are capable of exceptional speed, power, and performance while still at a reasonable price point for electric reels. The reel has been thoroughly tested and is more than capable of winching up a variety of species from incredibly deep water, from tilefish and rosies up to the allusive swordfish. The power of the reel comes from a powerful brushed variable-speed motor attached to an oversized planetary gearing system. This makes for an incredible amount of speed and pulling power you would usually have to pay a lot more for in other electric fishing reels.

How much power? DAIWA Marketing Director Marc Mills says, “The SEAPOWER 1200 is 50% more powerful than our Tanacom power-assist reels.” Such faculty gives the angler an advantage over brutes like swordfish, snowy grouper, tilefish, and other hard-pulling deepwater dwellers.

The Seapower 1200 has a monetary winding power of 108 lbs and can pull in up to 140 yards of line a minute. The drag is capable of a monstrous 66 lbs of drag pressure. The reel handle knob is made of aluminum for a feel anglers will enjoy, and the line guide is oversized so swivels and connections can easily be wound onto the spool. The screen on the Seapower is an easy-to-read LED screen that has multiple language settings. When fully loaded the reel will hold up to 1110 yards of 80 lb Daiwa J-Braid Line.
