[ICAST 2023]The SALTX II from Tsunami
Tsunami has brought out the next iteration of its completely waterproof reel, the SALTX, this year to ICAST. The new Tsunami SALTX II took everything that was learned over the past four years from the original SALTX reel and reworked it into an even better reel for dunking in the surf. The body and rotor of the SALTX II are machined out of A6061 aluminum, while the main gear and pinion are made of stainless steel, in the digitally optimized S-drive. There are 19 different seals to keep water, salt, and sand out of the reel. An interesting new feature for this reel that sticks with the waterproof design of the reel is a sealed bail spring, an often overlooked feature that does affect quality of life over time. The bail wire, spool lip, and main shaft are made of titanium for longevity and weight savings. The reel handle can be swapped to either side for an ambidextrous option. The SALTX II will be available in 4 sizes, starting from a 3000 up to an 8000-size spinning reel. MSRP starts at $399.99 and goes up to $459.99.
