Water temps are continuing to drop due to the cool nights, which should only make the fishing better. Bass and bream anglers are reporting a good bite. Bass anglers are throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and various topwater plugs. Anglers continue to target the flats and shaded areas as the fish are pulling up to start their fall feeding. The bream anglers are targeting the drop offs around the points in the upper end of the lake and along the earthen piers. Redworms and mealworms are the popular bait choices as of late. Most anglers are using a tightline technique. The crappie bite continues to be poor. Crappie anglers are targeting the points close to open water. The catfish bite is fair. Catfish anglers are hitting both the big lake and little lake and having some success. Tighlining nightcrawlers or liver seems to be the technique of choice.
Anglers planning on hitting the lake need to remember there is a slot limit on bass. All bass between 16 - 22 inches must be released immediately, and only one fish over 22 inches may be kept. The daily bag limit for bass is 10. Any and all walleye caught must be released immediately. The bream limit is 100 aggregate (both bluegill and redear) total per angler. The daily limit on crappie is 30. The catfish daily limit is 10.
