Most of the time I gripe about all the people that stop by my house for directions, gas, money and etc. But ever once in awhile it pays off. I'm outside fiddling with my new sonar unit today, and a fellow stops in. I figured, here we go, another sucker begging for gas money. Sure enough, he gets out of his car and tells me he got lost, and used up all his gas. And he was wondering if I had any money for him to borrow. I looked at him and said, I might be interested in pawning something for you.

He went to his trunk and says he had a few fishing reels, but he really didn't want to part with them. I looked at him and said, I got a 20 dollar bill, and I ain't real keen on parting with it either. I told him to let me see what he had.

He pulls out a Garcia 5500c reel and rod. Not interested. He pulls out a Zebco 33 and rod. Not interested. Then he reaches and gets his setup. Not an expensive reel and rod, but a very nice Quantum baitcaster, and a 6'6" Berkeley rod. Got a spinnerbait tied onto it. Whala.. I'm interested. I picked it up and cast it across the yard. Needs new line, but actually casted very smooth. I told him I would give him the 20 for it and the Zebco. (for the kids).. I told him if he got back up this way he could get it back whenever he wanted to. He says he hopes he never gets lost up this way again. Shook my hand and said thanks.

I think I got a fair deal on this one. Very seldom do I catch someone like that. hehehhe
