New from Daiwa The 23 Bull Steel Bladebait

Bladebaits have been a thing in freshwater fishing for decades now. They are great when it’s cold to get some big bites from largies on the bank trying to warm up as well as being fished deep for walleye and spotted bass. The tight wobble, sound profile, and flash work wonders for teasing a bite out from these cold fish. So even with all this success in freshwater, there haven’t been really any bladebaits made solely for saltwater use. Maybe an angler here and there just swapping out the hooks and snaps on a larger freshwater bladebait but nothing much beyond that. But that’s not the case anymore with Daiwa bringing out a purpose-made saltwater bladebait to the market with the new Bull Steel Bladebaits.

Like the freshwater bladebaits, the Daiwa Bull Steel can be fished in multiple ways, cast and retrieved, dropped and jigged, or just trolled. These new bladebaits have an excellent sound profile that predatory fish can hear from far out. This sound profile is actually adjustable by selecting one of the two cutouts to attach the snap to on the top of the lure. Each cutout has its own unique sound profile. Beyond the sound of the lure, the wobble and finish make for electric-like flashes when the Bull Steel is worked through the water column. The profile of the lure is also baitfish inspired to an instantly recognizable silhouette that predatory fish will hone in on.

For using the Bull Steel as a jig in vertical use on a wreck or structure, the drop of the lure imitates a wounded baitfish that is sinking out of a bait ball with a slow flutter, while the upward retrieve is hectic with a ton of wobble and noise. The lure has already been proven to perform exceptionally on snappers, groupers, blackfin tuna, amberjack, jack crevalle, yellowtail, and all other pelagic species during initial testing. The Bull Steel bladebaits come equipped with a pair of sticky sharp #4 saltwater trebles matched with a saltwater-grade snap rated for 65 pounds. The lures are available in 1oz and 1.5ox sizes and four colors; BLUE PINK, ZEBRA GLOW, SILVER, and PINK GOLD. MSRP for the bladebaits starts at $12.99 for the 1oz and $13.99 for the 1.5oz, they should be available for purchase any day now.
