New PENN Carnage III Offshore Boat & Tournament Rods.
The new PENN Carnage III Offshore boat and tournament rods, represent the next generation of high-performance rods from PENN. These 17 new rods complete PENN’s Carnage III series of fishing rods. Built on a lightweight but powerful blank, they have been designed to be extremely durable. Purpose-built for targeting the largest saltwater gamefish, these new offshore rods have been made to compete with the custom rod market. 10 of the new Carnage III rods are a blade-only design that allows anglers to customize the rod butt sections to match whatever target, technique, conditions, and even boat configuration they are fishing. The other 7 new rods come with slick rod butts, except for the purpose-made white marlin rod that has an EVA butt, built for that specific fishery. All of these rods come with a heavy-duty blank that uses LS2 construction made for the tough conditions of the offshore environment. The blanks are a carbon and glass composite with a unidirectional core that has an outer carbon spiral wrap. This reinforces the core and enhances the hoop strength of the blank, all the while keeping the blanks very lightweight.
“Compared to similar rods on the market, these rods will feel lighter, especially the larger fish models, and are more than capable to handle the task at hand,” said Justin Poe, Category Director at PENN. “Our goal was to leave these rods as customizable in the market so that the angler can choose the finishes, they desire for the type of fishing they are doing. We worked closely with some of the biggest names in offshore fishing like Ray Rosher and Quinton Dieterle, to ensure we got these rods dialed. PENN now has an entire rod series to match up to its premium offshore reels like the International’s and the Fathom II LD’s.”
