SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. --
The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources says the state has a new record striped bass.
The agency said Thursday that Summers County resident James Brooks now holds the record with a 45.7-pound fish. Brooks hauled in the big bass from Bluestone Lake on Sept. 3 using a crankbait.
The fish broke the former state record for weight by more than 16 pounds. And at 47.16 inches, the fish broke the state length record by more than 6 inches.
The DNR says Brooks fought the fish for 40 minutes before landing it.
I'm still trying to locate a photo of it.
