Boats have come a long way. I just sold my 1990 Skeeter SD125FS and upgraded to a 2004 Ranger Reata. This is great but all the mechanicals I used to service myself have evolved to more complicated systems that I am not familiar with. Although I am somewhat mechanically inclined, I am not a mechanic. I have to re-establish my comfort zone with all this stuff. For starters, the Ranger has a Sea Star hydraulic steering system. Included in teh package of owners manuals I have is the fill tube for the steering system which obviously has never been used. So I can pretty much assume that no maintenace has ever been done on the steering. SO is there anyone out there who can walk me through what I should do to inspect and what I should be doing annually?
