Hello all,

This is my first post. This is a great information resource forum and i look forward to hanging out!! Would really appreciate your thoughts and advise on my new project. Correctly propping a 300hp 2010 Yamaha sho v6 (previously a 225) ecm modded by Eric of simommotorsports. I know, why would I do that, right. Well I owe it to the motor! Hehe. The only difference in the 200, 225, 250, and in Japan only the 275 sho motors are the ECM, nothing else !! Yamaha makes a 300 hp 4 stroke v6 offshore, which uses the same block as the sho motors. So, I went ahead with the remap to 300hp. Rev limiter stays at stock 6100. No other mods.

Originally I bought the sho for my 19ft Cajun bass boat. However, it was too much mtr, barely had any free board at the transom 2inches. Boat would chine walk in rough water at 40 mph, very scary . On flat watr got to 75 then wanted to chine walk. Mostly, bc of the lack of freeboard and not being brave or stupid enough to drive thru chine walk decided to buy a better haul more suited. And I'm glad I did, bc rough water would easily wash over the back of the boat.

I settled on a Ranger 20.5 ft 205dvx, 2003 model. Bass boat. It's a much more suitable platform for the 4 stroke sho. I added a power pole and jack plate atlas 6in. Now finally here's my dilemma that I hope you all can help me get sorted.

I m looking to source a better prop for my application. *

Test constants
Boat weight = 1709 lb dry add 1000 lbs for mtr and load (2700lbs)
Motor = 2010 yam. sho 4 stroke remapped ecm to 300hp currently with 25 pitch powertech 15in diameter ventless as prop. Model vmx3r25pcl200odel (high rake med cup)
Jack plate=Atlas 6in hyd jack plate
Jack plate setup all the way down = 4.25 in under pad
Jack plate all the way up = 1.75 in above pad

test position = 3 .25 in on atlas or .25 in under pad
Would lose water pressure around 5 in on plate or .75 above pad
(only able to go .75 above pad, does this sound right?).

Test 1 w/ Yamaha 225 sho (ECM mod to 300 hp)
Prop ,25p powertech 15in diameter ventless (vmx3r25pcl200)

Results
Hole shot and mid range acceptable
Top end 72.5 Mph @ 6000 rpm. w/ slight less than 1/4 throttle to go.

Note. *Very difficult to monitor b/c Rpms *were all over on several runs . *Couldn't tell the amount of prop slip due to over trim or too high on hydraulic jack plate.

Before mod stats
Test 2
Yamaha 225 sho (Stock)
Prop 25p powertech 15in diameter ventless (vmx3r25pcl200)
6000 rpm 69mph

Previous motor Stats
Test 3
2003 yamaha hpdi 225 (stock)
25p vmax prop vented
Rpm 6000 @ 72 mph

I think I need a new prop bc 1. The vmax 25 p on my previous motor out ran the powertech on the new motor. The new motor was supposed to increase top end 10percent instead lost 3 mph

2. Bc I upgraded the motor 75 hp . I hit max rpm with around 1/4 throttle left over in test 1.

Question, which one and how much pitch ? I'm thinking possibly. 27 or 25 pitch v max ventless. Or. The new fxp 27,26, or 25 pitch. Or should I have powertech modify my current one the 25 pitch? However, I do need a spare for the boat.

Suggestions or thoughts?
Opinion on powertech?
On fxp vs vmax ?

Thanks in advance !!
