St. Croix Rod’s NEW GXR Lite and GXR Walleye Combos
St. Croix Rods is following up last year’s GXR Bass Combos with the new GXR Lite and GXR Walleye Combos. Launched at ICAST 2024, the GXR Bass combos were a big win for St. Croix Rods and SEVIIN reels. Taking Best Rod & Reel Combo in the 2024 ICAST New-Product Showcase. This was St. Croix’s first step into making premium combos for anglers who want top-notch performance at a more palatable price. Now this year, they are trying to have a repeat with these new GXR combos, which are now species and technique-optimized for panfish, trout, and walleye.
“GXR Bass was a big step for us,” says Ryan Teach, St. Croix Vice President of Innovation. “It was the first and only time St. Croix has offered its rods paired with SEVIIN reels at retail. Nearly one year later, the reviews from anglers speak for themselves. Bass anglers at all levels love them, and many of our retail partners have re-ordered multiple times.”
The GXR Lite line is comprised of five ultra-light to light power combos. These range from 6′ to 7′ in length and are all spinning rods that come equipped with a 2000 size SEVIIN GXR spinning reel. The GXR Walleye line is also five models of combos, ranging from 6’3″ to 7′ in length of medium or medium-light power rods. These walleye combos come paired with 3000-size SEVIIN GXR spinning reels. All ten of these combos come out this August and have an MSRP of $200 to $210 depending on the model.
