Stuck in a rut

Anybody ever get stuck fishing a certain lure or a certain style that you find it hard to let go of to learn how to fish with different lures? Case and point. I got hooked on whacky rigs last year, I have always loved plastic worm fishing, but this method has worked so well in the waters I fish I find it hard to fish any other way, different lures, different depths etc...I really want to broaden my horizons. The few tournaments I fished this year were on totally different types of water where I'm still using whacky 90% of the time. Problem is I have not caught a single keeper tournament fishing this year. My partner pulled us out of one to finish halfway through the pack and the second we both got skunked. How do you guys make yourself try different methods and stick with them when your trying to figure them out?
