Russell Nielson, a track and field athlete at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, caught his first wiper late last month. It also happened to be a state record. According to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), Nielson reeled in the fish from Newcastle Reservoir on May 21 just west of the college town.
