The 2025 Bassmaster Kayak Series Angler of the Year – Abby Abbondanza
Kayak angler Abby Abbondanza has been crowned the 2025 Bassmaster Kayak Series Angler of the Year (AOY). A Hobie Eyewear Team ambassador, Abby Abbondanza, has had a great 2025 season with a 733-point total for his best three events of the six-tournament season. Securing the 2025 AOY crown and the $5000 prize. This was no easy win for Abbondanza, with a total inches tiebreaker from New Hampshire’s Jake Angulas, who had 541 inches in his best three events. The margin was so tight between the two anglers that it came down to just one bass. Reiterating how every decision on the water and every bite mattered for this year’s season.
“I had honestly already congratulated Jake on winning AOY, because I thought he had won the tiebreaker,” he added. “I ended up winning by 20 inches. One bass. I was shocked when he called my name. Such a blessing.”
Aiming to stay consistent for the 2025 season, Abbondanza had a highly competitive six-tournament schedule. The Greensburg, PA angler earned three Top 10s placements during the 2025 season. Starting off with a sixth-place finish at the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in February. Then a 10th-place finish at Lake Tenkiller after a 37th at Dale Hollow. Abbondanza finished off the season with a 56th at Lake Champlain and 4th place at the Toledo Bend season finale.
