Well guys I gave it all I had yesterday but came in 5th out of around 20, 2lbs behind the leader. And now... the story of my life:
Changed lines on one of my baitcasters on friday cause the reel was low and the lack of line affects casting distance. I was using 7 braided rigs and the one i respooled (8th rig), I had to put Stren clear blue 14lb test mono. About an hour before weigh in, I got the hit of the day and of course, I was casting a fluke using the mono rig. 4lb bass destroys my fluke, I set the hook, and the fight of the day begins. After about 20 seconds as i'm getting the fish half way to the boat, it decides to jump around 2 feet above the water and then.... the dreaded sound every angler hates to hear. Line pops and my 4lber ($300 fish wins and I lose).
That's it for me and mono... Never again. Braid would have NEVER popped like that! That one fish killed my chances at my 1st tournament win!
