Lately, i have been doing some more hands on work on the maintenance of my boat. Tonight, i decided to take apart the lower unit (blade section) of my trolling motor and boy was i surprised.... A shitload of fishing line wrapped on the inside of the blade shaft, dirt and crap all inside the housing, etc. No wonder my trolling motor was feeling sluggish lately! although it was somewhat of a pain in the ass putting the trolling motor back together (the back side of the blade assembly catching the front side to tighten up and seal the lower unit), i think i put it back together correctly after lubing the unit up and cleaning it, i think its back in prime working conditions. We shall see tomorrow.
Two weeks ago, the pisser was clogged and i cleaned it out, this week maintenance on the trolling motor which really needed it! Moral of the story... Check your outboards and trolling motors as junk seems to always end up accumulating in them! Just don't be like me and do it in the daylight to make life a bit easier!!!
