Trolling motor tie down

Anyone use the strap type tie down for a motor guide trolling motor? Could you post some pics to show how and where you found was the best place to intall it? I am going t be running some big water and think I'm going to need something, I really don't see how a ram mount would be possible. I use to run a minn kota on a different style of boat so the ram mount worked on it.
