I've just recently ordered a new boat, and am thinking about the TM that I will have on it. It will be a 36v TM, and I currently use MotorGuides, and have not had an issue with them, but I hear a lot about MinnKota's as well.
I'm not sure I can get over the size of the MinnKota's foot pedal, perhaps actually using one would help, but all the other boats I've been on have MG's, so I haven't been able to experience a MK yet. (Perhaps this is telling me to stick with MG's?)
Also, do you keep a spare TM with you? I have in the past, and was religious about keeping it in my truck. Fortunately I never had an issue where I had to swap mine during a tournament, but I did loan it out more than once to other tourney fishermen. So, that's another thing I need to be thinking about, if I want a spare, then I have a spare MG, but would have to purchase another MK to keep one...
