VHF radio and antenna placement on a bass boat

Does anyone have suggestions on the best location for a fix-mounted VHF radio on a bass boat? Where would be the best place to mount an antenna?

I have a Stratos 19 and would like to install a VHF radio, probably on or near the console. I was thinking of putting a 4 ft antenna on the stern, but can't decide on whether on the port or starboard side. Any suggestions?
