Wes Logan gets Second Elite Series Title with Father’s Day win on Lake Tenkiller
Minn Kota and Humminbird pro Wes Logan stuck to his roots and jigged his way to a win on Championship Sunday at Lake Tenkiller. Starting at third place on the last day of the tournament, Wes Logan made a final-day charge that had the biggest bag of the tournament, along with a 5-pound, 1-ounce kicker was enough to push him into first. With a three-day total of 58 pounds, 2 ounces, Wes claimed his second career Elite Series title and earned a $100,000 payday. This was the perfect Father’s Day gift to his dad, which matched his first Elite Series Win on Mother’s Day in 2021 at Neely Henry—making both parents a big part of his winning story.
It’s been a challenging year for Wes Logan, starting the event ranked 40th in the Progressive Angler of the Year standings. He had struggled to find his groove this year, but on Lake Tenkiller, he changed this up. Starting strong with a Day One weight of 14 pounds, 12 ounces, to take 11th place. Then, added 15 pounds, 13 ounces on Day Two to claim his spot in the Top Five. After which he got another 15-pound, 9-ounce limit for the Semifinal Saturday to push him up to third, with the win in sight. His final-day surge brought in 16 pounds, 14 ounces of fish to seal the deal for first by just an ounce.
“It’s been a tough year, and I hit a wall as a professional—so much so that I questioned whether I even belonged,” Logan admitted. “After Hartwell, I really struggled. But this week, I got a few bites flipping a jig in practice and decided I was going to fish the way I know how. For some reason, the little area I found just kept reloading. Six of the Top 10 were fishing that same stretch, and I’d pull in behind them and still catch a 3-pounder. I don’t know why it worked—but it did.”

Logan stuck to his guns and fished exactly where and how he wanted to, by sticking to the shallows and flipping a jig to isolated cover. With his Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST trolling motor, Logan was able to come in precisely and quietly to work highly pressured water behind other anglers to pick off key fish. While the use of Humminbird LakeMaster mapping let him pinpoint and replicate similar areas he found during practice, across the lake with shallow cover, so he could get the most of his time and stay on productive waters. And for when he really had to lock in and fish slow and methodically, his Minn Kota Raptors kept him locked in place, so he could solely focus on picking apart cover with his jig.
“These tools were everything this week,” said Logan. “The Ultrex QUEST was super quiet and let me catch key fish behind other guys effectively, and LakeMaster helped me break down the lake fast and find the right stuff without wasting time. I really leaned on everything—the motor, electronics, mapping and shallow water anchors—it all worked together and helped me fish exactly how I needed to win.”
